Refrigerator is getting warm or not cooling: How to check

Warm refrigerator issue

Sometimes it happens that your refrigerator does not cool well (warm refrigerator) or has stopped freezing at all. Before you call a refrigerator technician or buy a new fridge, try to use this guide.

The refrigerator does not freeze, which can be severe. You might need some knowledge such as replacing parts, refilling freon, etc., or there can be a simple solution that you can apply yourself.

The first and most important thing you should do is check that the refrigerator is not unplugged from the outlet or that the outlet itself is not faulty.

Let’s look at the simple reasons that can help you solve your warm refrigerator issue

1. Snow coat

It especially accumulates in the freezer. If there is a lot of snow, then through this snow, the temperature is low; that is, the cold does not pass through well, and, accordingly, the temperature in the freezer will be high, and your food will quickly deteriorate.

In this case, you will need to defrost your refrigerator completely. Unplug the refrigerator for 24 hours, and use a few towels under the fridge. In general, it is recommended to defrost the refrigerator once every six months, and then your refrigerator will cool better, and there will also be more usable space in the refrigerator itself since there will be no layer of snow.

2. Overfull refrigerator or poor food organisation

There should be a gap in the refrigerator on the back wall. As you can see, the shelves do not touch the wall. Otherwise, the flow of warm and cold air in the refrigerator may be disrupted, which will lead to a malfunction of the refrigerator, and it will stop cooling as expected.

3. Check the door seal.

As you can pay attention to, many products have storage conditions, and if the products are stored in the refrigerator and the temperature in the refrigerator is high, accordingly, all your products will spoil faster.

Try to fix this problem yourself. Warm up the rubber band of the refrigerator with a hairdryer, open the refrigerator, warm up the rubber band, then close the refrigerator and warm it up again so that the rubber band sticks.

If you can’t cope with this, you may have to change the rubber seal; for this, it is better to call a professional technician.

4. The temperature is set lower than necessary

The temperature in the refrigerator should be slightly above average. Make sure your refrigerator’s temperature is set to 36–38 degrees F (2-4 C).

5. Evaporator cover

It happens that the ventilation holes from where warm air goes out allow cold air to come in, and a cycle occurs. If your evaporator is clogged, then cold air will stop flowing into the refrigerator.

Unplug the refrigerator and remove everything that can block your vent. Ccarefully remove the vent covers, and gently wash them in the sink using vinegar and soap detergent. Rinse and dry the vent covers.

Next, you should clean the vent openings. Use a vacuum with a soft brush to remove dust. While using the vacuum, try to be very careful to prevent damage to the vent or refrigerator. Reinstall the vent covers, and make sure they are clean and completely dry. Plug your refrigerator back in.
